'lounging in the sphagnum moss at sand creek'
a scene painted with watercolor from a magical memory... I was invited to someone's property to witness the pink lady slipper orchids in full bloom. I was shocked to be led down to the river to see the amount of flowers growing in a sea of sphagnum moss. As far as the eye could see, I took in all the pops of gorgeous pink among the bright green moss bed. I lounged in the moss & sat with these blooms knowing I would have to paint this view one day. I took many reference photos sitting there on the soggy ground with these flowers that I was able to work from later. the print also features a mourning cloak butterfly I saw floating around the land- one of my favorites to see. located at the bottom of the print is the title of the piece & my signature in cursive hand writing.
